The Duffy and Friends franchise is one of the cutest and most wholesome things I've seen! As Duffy’s latest friend, Cookie, made her debut at Hong Kong Disneyland earlier this summer, there’s no better way to celebrate the newest addition to the squad than a showcase! Carla and I registered for this Magic Access exclusive show featuring the Disney Bear and his lovable motley crew as soon as we got the email.
Just like previous member shows we’ve attended, we arrived at the Storybook Theatre a good hour before the show starts. We actually thought we would arrive too early and seem crazy, but when we got to the theatre, there was already a line of people who were as eager as we were to get to the best seats. There were people dressed up like we were, while others held their little Gelatoni or Stella Lou plushies, or sported their own Duffy or Shellie May bag like Carla’s! It’s really cute to see people of all ages dressing up and truly feeling the Duffy and Friends spirit.
I would say waiting an hour actually paid off because we managed to get pretty decent seats in the middle of the second row, so we had a full view of the stage. Like all shows at Hong Kong Disneyland, the show was in two languages (English and Cantonese) - Mickey and Minnie spoke Cantonese, and thanks to the lovely hosts, (and English subtitles!) we had a great time watching.
Accompanied by more dancing than singing, A Duffy and Friends Celebration focused on the creation and meet-cutes of each and every one of Mickey and Minnie's furry friendships. Similar to Moana: A Homecoming Celebration, the narrative approach of this show made it stand out as a breath of fresh air from the traditional Disneyland musical show. Don’t get me wrong, I love musicals but I'm also always down to see such a pure and well choreographed show about friendship and magic memories!

Hong Kong Disneyland definitely knows how to treat their Magic Access members ! I’m genuinely looking forward to the Halloween event and previews they’ll host next season (I’ve even planned my outfit already!) Stay tuned to hear more about Disney Halloween 2018 will bring us!
